Brian Dibbins

Hi, my name is Brian Dibbins, the Director of Brikris Investments Pty Ltd, and the webmaster for Trade Profitably.

You may have seen me on various forums as BJ Dibbins, as I am a forum administrator and/or moderator on many of them, as well as being a regular member on others.

I am the co-author of "Learn How to Trade Profitably" with John Pontikas, and the author of Safer Passwords.

But for the benefit of those of you that don't know me here is a brief intro...

My interest in wealth creation began in January 2005 after my brother-in-law loaned me a Jamie McIntyre free DVD from 21st Century Academy.  Shortly after watching that I had ordered my homestudy package and since I was lucky enough to be on annual leave at the time I had the chance to watch them all through at a stretch.

To me, this was a real eye opener as to what was possible, and I still regard it as an excellent introduction to learning about wealth creation strategies and mindset.

So within a couple of weeks of watching the DVD's I was placing my first trade (hands up if you can spot my mistake?)

I sold a couple of naked puts on a stock that I was prepared to buy, with the intention of writing covered calls on if I was exercised.  Before long I was writing put spreads and started to see some nice profits.

It seemed like money for nothing - until the first tiny correction occurred in May that year.

Then I started to realise there was a downside for those unprepared (like me). By July I'd recovered again and in August I'd had my best month to date.

September was also pretty good though I was surprised to find that even though I'd had a number of successful trades, my one losing trade had eaten up the profit from all the winners.

Then came October 2005. I had a number of long trades on when the market dropped some 200 points in two days. It didn't recover enough by options expiry, and my trading account nearly didn't recover either after the hits I took.

It wasn't until I completed training with my mentor John Pontikas that I realised where I'd been going wrong.

So now it's my aim, as well as John's, to help prevent others from having to donate as much as I did to the market for those real life lessons.

John and I developed a friendship from the original training I attended with him, and from mid 2006 we started "Trade Profitably" as a way of providing others with a cost effective method of learning what he teaches.

Prior to leaving full time work in Feb 2006, I had spent over 21 years in the employment services industry in various roles, including; Employment Consultant, Office Manager, and finally Employment Services Manager responsible for the Job Network contract for 7 sites.

My qualifications include an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management, a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, and a Certificate III in Information Technology.
